The Sun Filled Greatroom

This great Friday Harbor home is beautifully set right on a hole at a golf course with panoramic views of the mainland and Mt. Baker in the Cascade Range from the greatroom. The new owners wanted whole house sound, 5.1 surround in the media room and HDTV’s throughout. Theater Design Northwest spec’d the Xantech D5 audio distribution system for it’s powerful, yet intuitive user interface with Onkyo CD changer, Sony HD radio and TV sound as the sources. As seen above the carefully installed Pinnacle K8 series ceiling speakers blend seamlessly with the lighting and decor while providing great sound with individual sources selectable in each of the 4 zones.

The kitchen features an under counter Toshiba HDTV with RF control of sources from the remotely-installed Dish Network box. Stereo TV sound can be heard in hi fi through the kitchen whole house zone.

The Master Suite uses a Toshiba 46″ LCD display above the fireplace and also a zone of whole house sound. The HD sat box for this TV and the whole house sound system is neatly tucked away on shelves in the walk-in closet.

Double doors frame the entry to the efficient media room with a corner office/library area, practice piano and a higher end 5.1 THX Certified home theater system. This compact media setup had been prewired by the contractor for the dreaded 5.1 ceiling surround, which gives you no soundstage, imaging or connection to the action on the screen. Our technical designer quickly nixed that idea and spec’d MK Sound THX 950 L/C/R across the front with Pinnacle Super K833 Reference ceiling speakers as surrounds. The display is Toshiba’s Regza Cinema model 55″ and a powerful MK 350 watt sub hides right behind the display. The HD Sat box, Panasonic BluRay and Onkyo THX Certified receiver are installed in a specially ventilated cabinet just below the display. A Universal Remote Control MX-980 controls the system flawlessly.
