Edgewood, WA- 7.1 HD Projection Theater
Seattle Area Home Theater Professionals

The theater sign at the entrance gives you an idea how well-realized this room design is. The clients had been planning this project for 5 years and we were honored to be the AV consultant to help them realize their dream theater. Within 5 minutes of meeting the client, he handed me a nice sketch of the floor plan and filled me in on the interior design details. The homeowners and their skilled contractor handled the building and finish work, while giving us full discretion for AV integration and technical design within their budget.

After taking measurements and doing a preliminary analysis of this larger space’s acoustics we designed wiring infrastructure and spec’d this system: Panasonic PTAE 4000u 1080p prjector, Grandview 100″ 16:9 Elite Cinema Curved fixed frame screen, Monster MC700HDMI interconnects, Panasonic DMP-BD60K BluRay, Pace RN-110 HD Cable Box, Panamax power conditioning in the rack and for the projector. Audio included; Onkyo TX-NR 876 THX Ultra AV receiver, Onkyo Ipod dock. The client wanted inwall speakers in the columns so we sized them appropriately, added fiberglass to damp resonances and installed Pinnacle K series with Kevlar woofers: KLCRs in front, K60 for surrounds and K6 ceiling speakers for rear surrounds. We chose the budget-friendly and powerful Pinnacle Digital 600 sub to move the air in the room; dual 12’s, 600 watts in a 15″ square cabinet-a substantial sub that rocks down to 23 Hz in a med/large room. System control is handled through RF with a Universal Remote MX-450 with one-touch activity based programming. We flush-rackmounted all of the gear in a Theater Design custom sliding rack using Middle Atlantic RSH custom rackshelves and faceplates. The audio-video quality in this room is superb and the entire project turned out wonderfully.

Some of the fun details include snack bar with undercounter wine fridge, lighted candy display stocked with theater size candy, a vintage 40’s theater exit sign and a great light sculpture by the client’s artist friend. In the entry stairwell you can see the mock ticket booth they constructed. A 32″ plasma for Wii fit graces the marble mantle above the renovated gas fireplace. Other features include: back seating/conversation area with a comfortable sectional, restored Wurlitzer jukebox and Lutron lighting control.
